Web Content Specialist (Contract)

This role sits within a collaborative communications team and supports a significant digital initiative focused on improving how information is accessed, understood, and used.
You'll work across multiple web properties, helping bring structure, clarity, and consistency to content that serves a broad and diverse audience. This is a high-impact role where strong writing, attention to detail, and sound judgment will make a visible difference.
What You’ll Do
- Write, edit, and proof web content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Translate complex information into plain language that is easy to understand and navigate
- Convert existing content, including PDFs and legacy materials, into web-friendly formats
- Build and manage pages within a CMS
- Structure content for readability, usability, and accessibility
- Ensure consistency across layouts, formatting, and visual presentation
- Contribute to the migration and consolidation of multiple websites into a single platform
- Audit existing content and identify opportunities to improve structure and clarity
- Apply SEO and UX best practices to improve search visibility, navigation, and user experience
- Organize content in a way that reflects how users search and navigate
- Support improvements to site structure, navigation, and information architecture
- Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to ensure a cohesive user experience
- Manage multiple priorities and timelines across concurrent projects
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience in web content, digital communications, or a related role
- Strong web writing and editing skills with a clear, user-focused approach
- Experience working in a CMS, including building pages and managing content layouts
- Understanding of SEO fundamentals and how content impacts search performance
- Ability to structure and organize content for usability and accessibility
- High attention to detail and comfort managing large volumes of content
- Strong project management skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities
- Confidence working with stakeholders and asking the right questions to get clarity
Nice to have:
- Experience with Drupal or similar platforms
- Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics
- Exposure to healthcare, public sector, or complex organizational environments
The Details
💰 $60–$80 per hour, depending on experience (Equivalent salary range: $70K–$90K)
📍 This is a remote role, with candidates based in British Columbia required. Occasional in-person collaboration in Vancouver may be required.
