Senior Content Strategist (5 Month Contract)
This role is for a content strategist who can make complex subject matter clear, accessible, and actionable. You’ll step into a team that does not need more content, but needs stronger direction, clearer messaging, and a more intentional approach to how content supports business goals.
Smart, Savvy + Associates is proudly partnering with Technical Safety BC to hire a Senior Content Strategist on a contract basis. Technical Safety BC is an independent, government-adjacent organization responsible for overseeing the safe installation and operation of technical systems across the province.
Their work spans industries including gas, electrical, elevating devices, and rail, with a mandate that directly impacts public safety. Through licensing, incident investigation, and education, they help ensure systems are safe and communities are protected.
This role is embedded within a high-performing Marketing and Communications team and will play a key part in shaping how complex, technical information is communicated to the public, industry, and internal stakeholders.
This is a strategic role with meaningful scope. You’ll define content frameworks, guide campaign direction, and contribute hands-on to execution where needed.
What You’ll Do
Lead content strategy across key initiatives
- Develop and implement content strategy frameworks aligned with organizational priorities
- Define channel strategy, content mix, and messaging approach across campaigns
- Build and refine messaging architecture to ensure consistency and clarity
Shape and support high-impact campaigns
- Lead content direction for major initiatives, including public-facing campaigns and high-visibility communications
- Plan content across digital, social, email, and out-of-home channels
- Ensure content supports awareness, understanding, and behavior change
Create and refine content
- Write and edit both long-form and short-form content across channels
- Translate complex, technical subject matter into clear, accessible language
- Ensure content meets high standards for accuracy, tone, and usability
Advise, collaborate, and influence
- Partner with internal teams across marketing, digital, regulatory, and risk
- Provide guidance on content formats, channels, and best practices
- Build strong relationships and credibility with stakeholders
Support performance and optimization
- Contribute to content measurement and performance tracking
- Identify opportunities to improve effectiveness across channels
- Apply insights to refine content strategy and execution
What You Bring
- 6 to 7+ years of experience in content strategy, communications, or a related field
- Proven ability to develop and implement content strategies tied to business outcomes
- Strong experience with campaign planning and multi-channel content execution
- Excellent writing and editing skills across formats and audiences
- Ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level
- Strong judgment and comfort working in complex, evolving environments
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and influencing without authority
Nice to have
- Experience in public sector, healthcare, or regulated environments
- Background in behavior change or public awareness campaigns
- Strong understanding of plain language and accessibility principles
The Details
🗓️Approximately 5 months (May or June start through September or October)
💰 Approx. $110,000 annualized (contract equivalent, with flexibility)
⌛ Full-time, 40 hours per week
📍 Hybrid, Vancouver, BC (2 days in office) | Fully Remote option also available
📋Embedded contract role, not independent consulting
